Help

One product, one sign-in: your own tasks, notes and calendar, and a shared

team board, with objectives beside them. Everything here is written for people using it, not building it.

The one idea worth knowing first

Your tasks are yours. Putting a task on a team board shares it so colleagues can see and comment on it — it does not hand it over. It stays on your personal list, and only you can edit or delete it. Take it off the board and nothing is lost.

The two-minute version

New to one of the apps? Start here instead of the manual — each of these is a couple of minutes, not a couple of pages.

Getting around

Every page of the suite wears the same bar, in the same order, so there is one thing to learn rather than five. This is it.

STRIDE My WorkTasksNotesCalendarTeamOKRsMessages Search tasks, notes, people, teams, OKRs… ⌘K Create Today 4 tasks 50% Focus · Everything JD
The highlighted entry is the page you are on. Nothing else about the bar changes from page to page.

The suite bar, drawn wide. Your own initials sit where JD is, and the wordmark says your team’s name if a team administrator has set one.

Left to right, and this is the whole of it:

On a narrower window the words go and the icons stay

It sheds words in three stages as the window narrows, always keeping the icon. First My Work and Messages lose their labels; then Team and OKRs; and below about 1365 pixels every entry becomes an icon alone. Nothing is removed — hover or focus any of them and it names itself, and a screen reader reads the name at every width. On a phone you get a different, simpler view altogether.

Making something new

Create is the same menu on every page, so you never have to be in the right place first.

The two menus in the bar. Create makes four things, in two pairs — the two that make a task, then the two that make a note. T and N are the keyboard shortcuts for Task and Note. On the team board the first row reads Personal Task, because the board's own controls make the other kind and the menu says which one it means. On the OKRs page, Create offers an OKRs group above these with New objective in it; every other page offers exactly this list.

Where to go

Getting started

In order, the first time you use this:

  1. Get an account. Someone sends you an invitation code, or an administrator creates the account for you. Registering.
  2. Sign in. One sign-in covers all of STRIDE. Signing in.
  3. Understand the board. Tasks are grouped by when they are due, not by status. The board.
  4. Add your first task. Press Add task — or Create in the bar, or the T key — type a title, press Add. Editing a task.
  5. Make it yours. Dark, light or a color of your own; the application font; which widgets each page shows. My settings is in the menu under your initials, and it has ten panes. My settings.
  6. Join a team. A team gives you colleagues; a board is granted separately. Your first team.
  7. Share a task to a board when you want it visible. Sharing to a board.
  8. OKRs, if your team uses them. They are off until a team administrator switches them on. Objectives and key results.

Quick answers

The things people ask in the first week:

How do I make a task repeat?
Open the task, press Repeat, choose how often. The next one appears when you complete this one. Repeating tasks.
Why can't I see my colleague's board?
Being in a team grants no board access — a board is granted explicitly. Ask an administrator to add you. Teams and boards.
How do I change to light mode?
The theme buttons in the bar, near your initials: Dark theme, Light theme, and Custom theme — your own color wherever a custom color has been set. Settings → Workspace has the same choice. Which of them you are looking at is remembered per browser, so it does not follow you to another machine; a custom color you save is on your account and does. Dark mode and light mode.
Can I import a spreadsheet of tasks, or turn my meeting notes into them?
Yes, and it is one control for both — Settings → Your data → Import tasks reads a Word, Excel, CSV or text file of action items and works out which lines are tasks, and who and when. A spreadsheet is read as columns; a page of notes is read as lines. You review the list and choose which ones to bring in, and you can undo the whole run afterward. Importing your tasks from a file.
Can I get my tasks and notes back out?
Yes — Settings → Your data → Take a copy writes a .csv of your tasks or your notes, from your browser, sent nowhere. Taking a copy of your work.
Which AI does this use?
Claude, using an API key you supply. You choose the provider in Settings. Choosing an AI provider.
Can a task email me until I do it?
Yes — unfold Reminders in the task and set a schedule. On a team board you also choose who is reminded. They stop when the task is completed. Email reminders on a task.
Where did my completed tasks go?
The Completed tab, grouped by topic. More.
How do I get weather for where I am?
Settings, then Use my location. It is added to your saved places and becomes the one shown. Use my location.
Where is Settings?
In the menu under your initials, at the far right of the bar. There is no separate cog. The same menu holds your profile, the admin console if you have one, and Sign out. The menu under your name.
How do I get back to this manual?
My Work → Help, or Help in the menu under your initials. Either opens it in a new tab, so you do not lose your place.
Half the page has gone quiet and I cannot see why.
Check Focus in the bar. If it names a tag rather than Everything, every page is narrowed to that tag until you set it back.
I forgot my password.
Resetting a password.
I hid the tips panel. How do I get it back?
The menu under your initials → Help → Did you know? opens it any time. More.

Troubleshooting

When something is not behaving, start here.

I moved a task on the team board and its status did not change in Tasks

Press Refresh in the bar — it saves what you have, then reloads your work. Pages do not update each other live; each loads when it opens.

Why can't I see a board my colleague mentioned?

Board access is explicit. Ask a team administrator to add you to that board, or to a group that has access.

I can see a task but cannot edit it

On a board you belong to, you can edit any task on it — you do not need to own it. If a task is read-only, it is not on a board you are a member of. Ask an administrator to add you to that board.

Two things stay with the owner even for board members: deleting a task, and changing who owns it. More on who can edit what.

Where did my completed tasks go?

The Completed tab, grouped by topic. Archived items are on their own tab again.

Can I use this on a phone?

Yes — STRIDE has a simpler phone view built for a small screen. It covers tasks only: notes, the team board, analytics and settings stay on the desktop, where there is room to use them safely. You reach it by opening mobile.html, or by opening STRIDE on a phone, which hands you over automatically, on a touch screen narrower than 820 pixels. The phone view has its own short guide.

I hid the tips panel. How do I get it back?

Open the menu under your initials → Help → Did you know? at any time — that works whether the panel is hidden for now, switched off for good, or already showing, and opening it there never changes either setting.

If you pressed Hide for now, the panel is only holding its tongue: it starts appearing on its own again after somewhere between 10 and 15 more times you sign in, a number chosen once when you confirmed and not reconsidered afterward. Only an actual sign-in counts — refreshing the page, moving around the app, opening another tab, or coming back to a session you left open do not move it any closer.

If you pressed Never display again instead, it stays off automatically for good. Nothing about the feature was removed — Help → Did you know? still opens it whenever you want. More on the tips panel.

Two people edited at once and something was lost

Every open tab saves the whole of your own list, so a tab left open for a long time can overwrite newer changes when it next saves. If you have had a tab open all day, refresh before making edits.

Something looks wrong or an error appeared

Refresh first — most errors are a stale session. If a red or yellow message keeps coming back, note exactly what it says and send it to your administrator; the wording identifies the cause.
